Help shape good lives in the heart of London
At Southwark, Housing Needs & Support is committed to helping residents access safe, secure, and sustainable housing. Our work places residents at the centre of everything we do, whether preventing homelessness, supporting people through housing challenges, or helping households build a more stable future. If you are motivated by making a meaningful difference to people's lives and want to help shape and improve services for our communities, we'd love to hear from you.
Messages from our leadership
Thank you for your interest in Southwark Council.
Southwark is an iconic London borough with a strong identity, rich cultural diversity and deep community roots. It is a place defined by energy, opportunity, and a shared commitment to improving lives.
Our approach to public service is simple: we focus on what matters to our residents. In the years ahead, we will make smarter use of data and insight, embrace innovation in how we deliver services, and build on the borough's unique strengths.
At the same time, we will sharpen our focus on tackling inequality, even as we navigate reduced funding and growing demand.
We are looking for independent thinkers who can turn ideas and evidence into real change. People who are curious, collaborative and committed to using insight to understand our communities. People driven to make a meaningful difference to the everyday lives of our residents.
If that sounds like you, I look forward to welcoming you to Southwark.
Althea Loderick
Chief Executive of Southwark Council
Housing Needs & Support is an ambitious and evolving service focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for residents facing housing challenges. Our work is centred on preventing homelessness, supporting people to secure and sustain accommodation, and improving life chances through practical, resident-focused solutions.
We are looking for people at all stages of their careers who share our values, bring fresh ideas, and are motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible difference in people's lives.
These roles are ideal for individuals who believe that the best services are designed with residents, informed by experience, and focused on achieving positive and lasting outcomes.
You will work alongside a wide range of respected partners across London, including housing providers, health services, voluntary and community organisations, and regional networks. Together, we develop innovative, evidence-based approaches that help residents access the support, advice and housing opportunities they need.
We are committed to early intervention, prevention, and continuous improvement. Using insight, data and resident feedback, we are shaping modern housing services that respond effectively to changing needs and deliver better outcomes for our communities.
As part of a newly designed service, these roles offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking council that is ambitious for its residents and committed to tackling housing inequality.
If you want to be part of a purpose-driven organisation where your work will have a direct and lasting impact on residents, we would be delighted to hear from you.
